The new Community Champions programme has helped Healthwatch Kirklees and Kirklees TSL (Third Sector Leaders) to work closely together. This partnership is a big step forward in tackling health inequalities in Kirklees.
Community Champions help us connect with people who face barriers to healthcare. They support better understanding of health, encourage prevention, improve access to services, and give a voice to those who are rarely heard about the challenges they face.
Healthwatch Kirklees has the ability to analyse feedback from local people, spot the issues, and share what we learn. With a strong local and national connections, we are using these insights to help drive real improvements in health and social care services.
Insights
Impact and use of findings
As a Healthwatch organisation, we use our official role to make sure health and care services listen to a wide range of people, including those from Community Champions. We share the important feedback we hear with our partners locally, regionally, and nationally.
Most recent impact
The women’s health work, including breast and cervical cancer, was sent to NHS England to ensure that patient voices from Kirklees and Calderdale are included in the national review of specifications for women’s health hubs. The work was also sent to Yorkshire and North Women’s Steering Group Partners to see how they can use the findings in their upcoming project work to improve women’s services.
